The Associated General Contractors of America, Inc., the nation’s only full service national construction association, serves the industry and the public through 114 professionally staffed chapters. The more than 8,000 general contracting firms and 25,000 associate members of AGC are building and rebuilding America. The Association guides its members in the fields of labor relations, legislation, public relations, contracts, and bidding procedures. The problems of accident prevention, continuing education, research in methods and materials, ethics and trade practices, and market development - all come within the responsibilities assumed by the Association to serve the interest of its members.

Alabama AGC serves every element of the construction industry - Building, Highway, Heavy, Utility, Subcontractors, and Suppliers with four offices throughout the state.

Mobile Section, Alabama AGC is a part of the national and statewide association which entitles our members to newsletters and information from other areas throughout Alabama and nationally. Our association can effectively take action on, national, state, and local issues. Alabama AGC maintains a Governmental Liaison office in Montgomery, where our full time lobbyist monitors the legislative sessions and keeps the members informed of legislative issues that affect our industry.

Alabama AGC offers to members who qualify, a worker’s compensation program that is mature and financially sound. Last year CompTrust AGC gave pro-rata contribution credits back to qualifying members in the amount of $9 million.

Safety is one of the most important issues our industry faces. One of the programs the Mobile Section sponsors throughout the year for our members is the 10- Hour OSHA Certified Construction Safety Course. This course satisfies OSHA’s as well as the local industrial market’s requirements for “safety training of employees”.

AGC sponsors additional safety programs throughout the year such as “Confined Space Entry Procedures”, “Hazardous Communication”, “OSHA Record Keeping”, “Forklift Training”, “Competent Person Training for Trenching and Excavation”, “Scaffolding Training”, and “Medic First Aid/CPR for Construction Workers”.

AGC also sponsors seminars throughout the year including topics such as: “Buy-Sell Agreements and Closely Held Businesses”, “Hiring and Firing Seminar”, “ADEM’s Stormwater Permitting”, “Total Quality Management”, “Legal Issues”, “Supervisory Management”, “Contractor Safety” and Supervisory Training Programs (STP).

Social events are planned throughout the year including; dinner meetings, an Open House Reception, Crawfish Boil held at the Construction Center; Spring and Fall Golf Tournaments, Spring Bass Tournament, Spring & Fall Sporting Clay Shoots, a Summer Dinner Cruise, a Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo and Golf Tournament in August, and our annual Christmas Party which is held the first Friday night in December.

America’s most progressive and successful contractors have long realized that the competitive edge is enjoyed by those with the greatest knowledge and they recognize that they must be represented by a full service association that provides all the support they need to remain competitive in this industry.

Mobile Section, AGC is dedicated to serving the construction industry and the officers and directors hope you will take advantage of the programs and events that AGC makes available to you.
